I found this tutorial on
Maria's blog & just had to try it...it looked so cute!! I bought a box of 50
Memorex CD/DVD envelopes from Staples (dirt cheap!) - these are the ones with the clear plastic windows in the middle. Decorate the outside of the envelope but MAKE SURE the envelope is upside down....the opening is at the bottom!!! Cut a piece of white
cardstock 4 7/8" square, and stamp your main image in the center. Colour it and add any other details to it (this one is pretty plain
cuz it's the first one I did!) Add adhesive to the bottom of this piece and carefully insert it into the envelope (opening is down by her feet). Make sure the adhesive & your envelope don't meet YET!!! Add your "shakers" - punches, flowers, glitter, confetti, etc. so it shows through the window. Carefully seal the envelope to the
cardstock, making it smooth. Seal the envelope, add ribbon or other
embellies that you want, and then attach it to the card base, which is 5 1/2" square. This is Flower Power Tilda - I coloured her with my
SU markers.

Here is the second one I made. I was a bit more adventurous with this one!
LOL I used all
High Hopes stamps - Jungle background, Camilla Gorilla, sentiment and bananas. I coloured all of this with
Gamsol and
prismas! The card base is Sahara Sand. AND, believe it or not, I cut out all the bananas for the shakers! Crazy! My hand was
sooooo sore!!!!
LOL
Love the card! And thanks for the mini tutorial. I keep saying I'm going to try this but haven't yet.

they are amazing Chris, well done on all the cutting too, well worth the effort!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea!! I think I have a few of those around here from my college days. LOL They sell them in HUGE packs at our Sam's Club, too. Not sure I would need that many, but maybe I can get some with my local stampin' buddies. Thanks for the idea, Chris. I hadn't seen these before. They are both cute, but WOW is that gorilla cute or what?! I bet your hand IS sore, girl.
