Gift card tin & a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

First of all, I wanted to wish my good friend Heidi a VERY VERY VERY Happy Birthday!!!!!! I hope you have a day full of love and laughter and that you get spoiled rotten on your special day!!!! If you want to send your wishes to Heidi, head over to the Simon Says Stamp blog and leave her a comment....I KNOW she will be THRILLED to read all the good wishes!!!! Mwahhhh!!! Luv ya!!!

Also, for Heidi's birthday celebration, there are some FABBY things going on! Read yesterdays post or head to the Challenge Blog!!! Her birthday wish is for 200 people to participate in this weeks challenge (sketch) so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE join us & help make Heidi's wish come TRUE!!!!

Now, my project for today!!!! I bought these gift card tins from Michael's for $1.50 & they sat in my "box of alterables" for a VERY long time! I needed a gift card holder so I thought I'd pull one of these out and cover it. I tried using Ranger Alcohol Inks on it, but the inks weren't dark enough to cover the pattern that was on the top so I covered it with paper and ribbon along the sides. It was a first trial of covering this type of tin, and I'm not 100% happy with it, but I think the next one will be better! I used Tangerine Tango DP & CS and Tilda with Sunflower is coloured with Copics.

Inside the tin is a little plastic insert that holds the gift card.
Thanks for popping by! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!! And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI!!!!!!!!

3x3 note card tote

I followed the tutorial from SCS --> HERE <-- and this is what I came up with! I wanted to have a variety of cards, so I chose 2 Tilda's and 2 Edwin's and just left them blank on the inside. The tote was really easy to make, it came together quite fast & then sat on my desk for about 3 weeks until I had time to make some 3x3 cards to go inside.

I just used scraps of paper for the cards, and coloured them all with Copics. Nothing fancy, just a cute little gift set of mini cards.

Have a great week!

Janet's Corrosive Challenge #27

This week's theme is BACK to SCHOOL! I've already been back since the 24th - with students since the 27th so the whole "back to school" feeling is still very fresh in my mind!!! UGH!!!! Happy but not happy at the same time - know what I mean?!?!? Anyway, here is my card for Janet's Corrosive Challenge

I used a Dustin Pike image & coloured him with Koh-i-noor pencils & Gamsol. The CS is Chocolate Chip & the DP is Au Chocolat (retired SU......sooo sad!!) I made this card for my little nephew who is in Grade One this year!!! Time flies!!! The sentiment is computer generated.

This is my last day as Guest Designer for Janet's Corrosive Challenges. I just wanted to say THANKS JANET - for choosing me, for having some awesome challenges & for being a great friend!!!! It has been a lot of fun & an honour to work with so many talented designers!!! I will try to participate in as many challenges as I can!!! If you haven't checked out Janet's challenges, head over to her blog & see what she has up her sleeve next week!!!!! Good luck and have fun everyone!!!

Daisy & Dandelion Decoupage kits...soooo cool!!!

Awhile ago, I bought some stamps from Binky Crafts in Malta - there were 4 sets & I fell in love with all of them so I HAD to buy them all. There were Pickles & Onion (elephants); Bubbles & Squeak (bears); Candyfloss & Marshmallow (bunnies) and Daisy & Dandelion (dogs). In order to make the shipping costs worthwhile, I HAD to buy more stuff to fill up the envelope (darn shame I tell ya...LOL) It wasn't hard to do, thats for sure!!!! I bought these Decoupage kits that came with die cuts to make the animals & some patterned papers. They were too cute to resist & I'd never tried Decoupage before so - what the heck?!?!?!

I pulled open Daisy & Dandelion & put all 8 of them together in front of the TV one day while I was getting caught up on my Soaps! Then, that night, I sat down with the patterned papers they came with and made 8 cards...yup...that's right, I said EIGHT cards!!! There wasn't much stamping, just the sentiments but it was fun designing the cards to match for a gift set. I wish I had taken a picture of them from the side so you could see the layers....at some points there are 5 or 6 layers on these cuties...neat eh???

Here is the first set:
<-- all 4 cards & envelopes inside a plastic box. The little charm says "Made for you"

<-- 2 of the cards inside
<-- the other 2 cards inside

Here is the second gift set I made:
<-- the plastic box tied with a ribbon and a charm - I put the cards in sideways so you could see them better
<-- 2 of the cards inside this set
<-- the other 2 cards inside this set
I am hoping to sell these at the Farmers Market, so we'll see if other people think they are as CUTE as I do!!!!
Thanks for looking!!
Chris
(P.S. I did not stamp or colour these dogs, they are preprinted on cardstock!!! I can't take credit for the companies beautiful artwork!!!)

Baby Sleeping plaque

My friend is about to have her baby any day now, and I wanted to make her a few things to go in a gift basket. I made this sign using a piece of 5x5 cardboard and cardstock. I covered it using some scraps of paper I had in my bin - it is totally overflowing so I NEED to use up some of them!!!! The shiny pink paper that is the second layer, is also her pants - I paper pieced them, then added rhinestones for some bling! The top layer is a piece of pink vellum that I attached with the brads. The sentiment is computer generated. The little flowers are from a Wedding tub of flowers (like 700 flowers in this cute little tub from Michael's) - I just sponged the edges of them pink, and the sparkly brads are from Doodlebug. The image is LiLi's Secret from Inky Impressions & I coloured her using Copics.

Thanks for hanging out at my blog - I appreciate your comments more than you know!!!! Have a great day!!!
Chris
