I love CRATE PAPER!!

I received this package of Crate Paper (Twirl) from Simon Says Stamp WELL over a year ago, and finally decided to open it up and use it (I WASN'T hoarding.....LOL.... ok, maybe I was!) The base is a cranberry colour that was in my stash (it's not crate paper) but the rest is. The pink, the floral, the brown and the green. Crate paper is double sided, textured DP and is a nice thickness. I LOVE IT!!! So, I copied a layout from a birthday card I received and made these 2 cards for birthdays. I can't tell you who the first one is for because I know she reads my blog. This was an image given to me by my friend Char, I think it might be Sugar Nellie but I'm not 100% sure! I just thought she was adorable all dressed up! The second one is for Diana Crick, the owner of Scor-Pal and Magnolia-licious. This stamp is Tilda with bird - one of my fave's!!! I coloured both images with gamsol and my koh-i-noor pencils. The cards are 5 1/4 inch square.

A couple more birthday cards still trickling in!

This card is from Monika from my Tilda & Friends group. It is a pop up card - comes totally flat in an A2 envie, then pops up like this...cool eh??
This card is from my good friend Kelly! I love the bright colours and that bee is ADORABLE!!!! I love how you put the DP inside too, very clever!!!!

THANKS!!!!

I had to make more birthday cards! (will it ever end??)

This one is for my sister-in-law, who's birthday was back in July but we are only got together yesterday to celebrate hers, mine and my brothers' birthdays. The card base is Not Quite Navy and the DP is Crate Paper; the orange is from my scrap stash. The cupcake and the sentiment are from Michael's $1.50 bin. I added stickles to the cupcake to make it look yummy!

This card is for my brother, but his birthday isn't until Sept. The card base is Going Gray, then I matted it with Really Rust. I stamped the wall with Really Rust and then stamped the grafitti in black over top of it. I used Greaser Edwin, not because he looks like my brother (he doesn't!) but because I wanted to use these together, and I hadn't inked any of them up yet! SHAME on me!!! I dirtied up his face and t-shirt a bit. I coloured him with my koh-i-noor pencils and gamsol. The black brads are from the dollar store.

Another anniversary card!

I made this one for my parents, to go with the gift that my siblings and I bought for them (a new set of cordless phones!) They are both 76 years old, and not very "techy", but we did get them set up with the voice mail service through the phone lines (which was SO hard to convince them that it is much more reliable than an old answering machine), but now, when they are on the other line talking, it goes right to voice mail so people can leave a message. My Mom doesn't know how to check them, or doesn't think to check them after she gets off the phone - so this new set blinks if there is a message. Hopefully that will help!!! LOL She always calls and gets mad at us because we didn't call her back (when we did, but she was on the phone and didn't check her messages!) I coloured these cute porcupines with my SU pastels & inked up the letters with Apricot Appeal. I added some stickles to the hearts and the little stars.

Supplies:
Stamp: Prickly Love (Rachelle Anne Miller)
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery (both SU)
Ink: Palette noir, Apricot Appeal,
Accessories and tools: heart folder & my Cuttlebug, bashful blue ribbon, self adhesive letters from Making Memories (got them at Michael's)

nothing to show you, but the bags under my eyes!!

LOL! Kidding! I am exhausted though. This last week before school, I help out my friends hubby with his business. What he does is supply band/music teachers the sheet music and a variety of musical instruments, cleaning bits, pieces, for all sorts of musical instruments, etc. that they need for the first week of school (in 2 weeks). So, this week is CRAZY busy for him as he tries to get all the orders out from 3 provinces! It is insane. He runs this business out of his house and it is pretty chaotic. This is my 3rd summer helping him, and each year I say yes, forgetting how freaking tired I am when I get home. I have to haul heavy boxes up and down stairs, make 180 trips up and down stairs, and their house is SO hot, I'm sure I sweat off 20 pounds today!! LOL so, needless to say, I have not done any crafting, even though I got some new Magnolia's, some new stamps from Alota Rubber stamps, new stamps from Sweet n Sassy AND my new Great Impressions stamps from Dick at HM Stamps!!! I KNOW....that is a crime isn't it?? Hmphhhh!!!! I have Friday off, so guess what I'm doing????????? Wheee HOOooooooo!!!!!

Sorry bout my little rant, but I feel better now, thanks for listening (if you made it this far!) I am off to bed!!!

FUN weekend!!!

Tim and I went camping this weekend & had a blast! We left Thurs. after he was done work, and came home yesterday afternoon. He came back into Calgary to work on Friday, so I hung out at the campground with Brick, went to the river and worked on my scrapbook! It was so nice!!! We went to a place along the Elbow River called Paddy's Flat. Apparently there was a small black bear hanging around the area, but we didn't see him at all. It was a little freaky sitting there alone for awhile, hearing sticks crack in the bush behind me! I made Brick wear his Bear Bell so that probably helped!!! (at least I like to think it helped!!) The Conservation officers were ticketing campers for leaving their coolers out when they weren't around...the fine was $172...what a strange number eh?? I laughed when I heard that! I made VERY sure we left nothing around for the bear, not even the dog food!!! Here are a few pics for your viewing enjoyment:
This is me enjoying my birthday cake. Tim bought me the silver earrings and gave me some American cash for our trip to Vegas in Oct.
Can you find the dog??
The "ritual" shot - Brick in his lawn chair. He was SOME pooped! He swam in a pond for quite awhile in the morning, then later in the afternoon, some kids were throwing the stick for him in the river - his 3 favourite things: kids, sticks, and water!
Brick in the river. The canyon was gorgeous!

This picture is of Elbow Falls. It was a beautiful walk to it. It is a pretty popular site for picnickers but we were there early enough & were the only ones there!
Here he is swimming in the pond. And the last one.....us standing in front of Elbow Falls.

Have a great day everyone!!!
